A little bit about the talent behind the lens: Erika & Johnny Croner of Spellbound Images
Erika grew up watching her daddy behind a camera throughout her childhood. From climbing into trees to get that perfectly framed shot, or pulling over to the side of the road while on a long Motorcycle ride to catch his buddies zipping by, her father has been an inspiration. Not to be forgotten is the fact that Erika also was surrounded by hot rods. Her dad, of course always had at least one toy (a car or a bike) that could get you into trouble. Big brother also had a hotrod in high school that she was so lucky to “BORROW” and make all the boys green with envy at the slick 56 Chevy Bel Air. So came along her Christmas present, and first car – a 1963 Ford Falcon. She and her pops spent many hours souping it up, and fixing what she busted from a heavy foot. True story: When Erika was 17, her dad took her car away by opening the hood and disconnecting random stuff. She wasn’t gonna have it! She stomped outside, propped open the hood and took all that knowledge of cars her pops had given her, hooked it all back up. She jumped in, and took off! The end of the story, her dad was PROUD of her for figuring it out and greeted her with a smile when she came home.
Johnny, being the other half of Spellbound, was handed a camera one day when Erika said, “Shoot some pics hubby!” Little did he know he had an undiscovered talent! His favorite tool is their fisheye lens, which is perfect for shootin old cars. Johnny digs building and customizing his own cars, from his 1949 Shoebox, or the 1960 Cadillac and Erika’s new favorite houseguest – the 1951 Ford truck. So if you throw in a pretty girl, he’s ready to shoot.
So, the love of hotrods, pinups and photography are a natural fit! And it comes through in the expression of each click of the shutter. And when they photograph babies, families, bride and grooms to be, wives in their hubby’s tshirts. . . they make new friends, have a laugh or two and get great shots that they know you’ll fall in love with.
